I have configured this unit to function solely as a LAN/NAS device. After setting it up some time ago, I turned off all cloud-related features. During its operation, there was a problem a few years back where Synology devices were targeted for hacking and held for ransom. A warning appeared in the administrator area suggesting the disabling of the admin account, which I did. Since then, I can log in and see only the volume I created and a help section. There are no other options available. When attempting to log in with admin credentials, it informs me that the function has been disabled and advises contacting the administrator.

My experience hasn’t been particularly strong on managing this unit, but I’ve noticed that replacing a drive didn’t follow the expected automatic recovery process from the instructions. It seems my actions were incorrect.

Looking into further details suggests that the only way to regain admin access is to perform a reset (push button). However, doing so risks deleting the volume I created and losing data. It’s backed up elsewhere, but it would require a significant amount of time and effort to rebuild everything.

In short, it appears one of the HDDs within the unit may be failing. The admin area offers diagnostics to check if the enclosure believes it’s malfunctioning, but accessing that feature without a reset could result in losing the backup.

I've attempted to look into the matter, but it seems I'm struggling to find the correct terms for what I need. My search results aren't helping me identify the right language for my request.
