Have questions about PureOS and AMD GPU?
I wasn't able to get Debian to launch correctly—it acted similarly to PureOS. To test other options, I tried Linux Mint, which froze immediately without any output. I opened compatibility mode from the Mint menu and ended up with an empty desktop and just a cursor. Then I switched to Ubuntu in Live mode, and it functioned perfectly right away, even without installing anything. It automatically selected the driver and resolution. Some distros seem reluctant to use non-free components, but it’s always better to have a free alternative available. I feel a standard has been set: a Linux distro should run smoothly from a live session without requiring any installations or commands. Thanks for your help, @Chunchunmaru_! You gained valuable insights despite not getting PureOS working.
It makes sense why you're seeing this with a Vega GPU. This setup is relatively recent, and Debian might not have the appropriate kernel drivers. Since you're likely running Ubuntu 19.04, the problem probably lies with the kernel driver rather than the firmware itself.
