Switching from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 would not erase all your data. You can transfer your files using tools like DiskPart or File History, but some settings might need adjustment. For guidance, look for tutorials on moving operating systems and backing up your information.

You can create another partition and store everything you wish there. Once done, simply reformat the partition using the OS, install Windows, and that’s complete.

Your hard drive stays the same whether you switch OS or not. You can transfer your files to Windows 7 before upgrading, ensuring everything remains safe.

Ensure your files are saved and update to Windows 7. It’s quite a challenge.

During a fresh installation of Windows, the system will reformat the storage device, erasing everything currently there. The safest approach is to use an additional hard drive slightly bigger than the space you need, transfer all your files there, then install Windows on the primary drive and relocate the remaining data.

Consider purchasing Windows 10 soon as it launches in about a month, and the cost will be free.

But Windows 8 is terrible, they should revert to version 7, no way.
