Hello, I’m checking if it’s possible to unlock the BIOS on a non-K4 generation Intel CPU using a Z motherboard. I have an i5-4690 and would really appreciate any guidance. Thanks in advance!

It isn't possible, but you can boost the performance of a Haswell CPU on a non-Z motherboard. Many H81 and B85 boards do allow overclocking for the Pentium G3258.

Only the BCLK can be adjusted, but this also influences most other parts of the motherboard (like RAM) and usually causes a stability issue of up to 5 MHz.

Make sure the power cap is adjusted to essentially infinite so it can increase its performance fully. It might perform less if the cap is reduced.
