Has been experiencing BSODs recently.
I've been experiencing frequent BSODs lately. I'm trying to figure out if it's a hardware problem, but I'm not sure what could be causing it. It mostly occurs while watching YouTube, but sometimes it happens when the PC is idle and other times during gameplay. I'm guessing there might be a connection, but I'm not an expert and don't know which components might be involved. This has been happening over the past few months. I have some ideas I'd like to discuss later.
OS - Windows 8.1, 8, 7, Vista? - Windows 11 Pro x86 (32-bit) or x64? - 64-bit OS, x64-based processor
What version of Windows was originally installed? - Windows 10 Pro
Is this an OEM version (installed by default) or a full retail purchase? - I think it was an OEM install, bought from a site like Kinguin.
Age of system (hardware) - The machine is regularly getting upgraded, but I’d say it’s mostly within the last 3-4 years. The graphics card is second-hand, but the seller seemed casual about gaming.
Age of OS installation - Has the OS been reinstalled? - The operating system is brand new, only a month old. I thought it was fresh when I switched to Windows 11, but the update didn’t retain anything except files not on my main drive. Some apps seem to be portable.
CPU model - AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, 6-core processor at 3.80 GHz
Video Card model - EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (generic)
Motherboard - ASUS Prime x570-P
Power Supply - brand & wattage (skip if it’s a laptop)
Graphics card - EVGA 850GQ (B Model)
Bought during a busy period?
System Manufacturer - Did you build it yourself (laptop or desktop)? I shared dump files from WhoCrashed, but Windows isn’t logging all crashes. I think I have more crashes than the dump files show. Thanks for your help!

I observed a few unusual patterns:
- Browser add-ons – I use uBlock Origin, AdBlock, and Adblock Plus. Despite disabling them, a blue screen persisted.
- Case fan issue – It began misaligning slightly and made loud noises. I fixed it by securing it instead of replacing the fan.
- Motor noise – The fan started making strange sounds, possibly due to a short circuit while handling the motor.
- Browser choice – Initially, Chrome was problematic on YouTube ads; switching to Firefox resolved the crashes, though it would briefly freeze during videos.
- BIOS update – I recently updated the BIOS, but crashes occurred before that.
- Drivers – All drivers are up-to-date, sourced from ASUS and NVIDIA websites.
- RAM change – I upgraded from 16GB to 32GB, possibly triggering the issue.
- Hardware checks – Performed various tests; system appears clean and functioning normally overall.
