Hey there! I recently upgraded some components on my computer—switched to an Nvidia 2060 GPU, a Ryzen 5600 CPU, and increased the RAM from 8 GB to 32 GB. The installation went smoothly, but when I tried to test it, I noticed that my HDMI and USB ports aren’t functioning properly. Despite fans spinning and lights working, the ports are dead. I searched online for similar issues, but most advice focused on USB-to-HDMI adapters, which didn’t help much. I’m curious if anyone else faced this problem after similar upgrades. Have you tried any fixes? My PC was bought four years ago as a pre-built CyberPower build; its specs were an AMD RX 560, Ryzen 2300X, and 1x DDR4 stick. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Welcome to the forums. Please reset your font size to the standard setting; the current size is quite small and difficult to read. We’ll also require a detailed specification list of exact models for the components involved to ensure accuracy. Even without that list (though I’m not entirely sure), I believe you’re likely missing an update to your motherboard’s BIOS before installing the new CPU. Older boards often need a BIOS upgrade so the Ryzen 5000 can function properly. Since yours was originally a 2300X, it’s clear you should have updated it beforehand. If you didn’t, that’s probably the reason. Additionally, depending on your motherboard model, it might not even support the 5000 series, making it crucial to confirm the make and model of your board.

Thanks! I wasn't aware I adjusted the font size, and I'll check the included motherboard.

Before installing the new CPU, ensure your BIOS was updated. This matters because the issue depends on whether your motherboard supports 5000 series chips, regardless of brand or version.
