My PC has been experiencing severe and constant frame drops in virtually every game, starting approximately a week after building it. The issue manifests as freezes and lags occurring every half-second, particularly noticeable in demanding games like CS:GO and Rust. These freezes are accompanied by disruptive noises, such as tractor sounds in Rust, indicating significant lag. I’ve exhausted troubleshooting steps including defragging, BIOS checks, adjusting graphics settings, monitoring temperatures and fan speeds, running antivirus/malware scans, registry cleaning, and tweaking Radeon software – all without success. My primary concern is a single 8GB stick of DDR4 RAM (2400MHz) which I plan to replace with a 16GB kit (2666MHz) to see if that resolves the issue.

Here’s my system configuration:

* Motherboard: X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming
* CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 with Hyper 212 EVO cooler
* RAM: 8GB DDR4 2400MHz Kingston HyperX
* GPU: AMD Radeon RX 580
* Power Supply: Corsair Builder Series CX600 V2

I’ve researched potential solutions online, including forum posts and Reddit discussions, but haven't found a definitive answer.

So make sure all drivers are up to date first and power settings are on max, what were you using to monitor temps? A better RAM kit for you would be
this
and is only $7 more.

Here’s a rewritten version of the text, aiming for clarity and conciseness:

“I’m experiencing issues with my computer’s temperature readings. Using HWMonitor, I’ve noticed consistently high temperatures. I’ve recently updated my drivers (two days ago), but the problem persists. To troubleshoot, I plan to update again, then attempt a downgrade if necessary. I'll continue monitoring with HWMonitor and provide updates as needed.”

I uninstalled my current graphics drivers and replaced them with the new, and still getting the frame drops. Then I uninstalled that and installed a previous version, and it didn't fix it. I'm just really really confused because my PC was working perfectly fine up until the past few days. So if it
is
my RAM, I'm gonna be quite confused as to how it started having a problem so suddenly.

Are there any others suggestions from anyone? I'm desperate at this point.

That was a really long explanation! It seems like I just needed to switch cables to get things working. Sometimes you have to try different things until you find the right solution.
