Hello, I'm facing an unusual issue with my PC. After restarting it, the BIOS displays no HDD present. The system has two drives—a 512 GB Samsung Evo SATA SSD and a 2 TB Toshiba HDD. After powering off and waiting five minutes, the PC restarts normally and operates smoothly without any crashes during the next reboot. Operating system: Windows 11 23H2 64-bit, CPU: Asrock B450 fatalty gaming k4, Processor: Amd Ryzen 2600x.

Disconnect the SATA data and power connectors, then plug them back in. If the issue persists, the drive may be nonfunctional.

The machine powers on after being unplugged and reconnected, functioning properly. Yet, once it restarts, the hard drives remain absent.

Consider using a different SATA port on the motherboard. Also, try connecting the external drive to another computer and check if it appears there.

Edit: Realized this didn't get in my post: Try removing all but the boot drive first and see if that fixes the issue. If it does, report back. Also, what UEFI (BIOS) version are you using? Here's the latest for your CPU Codename Pinnacle Ridge . Don't use a newer UEFI than this one!

I upgrade BIOS to version 5.10. When I disconnect a drive and then reconnect it, the system starts up correctly again.

The hard drive is rotating, yet it isn't showing up in the BIOS settings.

Are there other computers available for installation? Would you consider using an alternative drive to eliminate potential issues with the motherboard? Also, could you exchange the cables and ports with an SATA SSD?

Well, perhaps I wasn't explaining it clearly. ASRock advises staying under 3.40, which is why I included a screenshot showing 3.40. If you encounter further problems, consider downgrading to 3.40. Also, didn’t you attempt booting using just the boot drive without any other connected drives? That was the first point I made in the discussion.
