I made a copy of my 120GB SSD so my sister could run Windows 8. It now displays only 120GB even though it's a 750GB HDD. Any ideas would be appreciated.

The drive was divided. I'm uncertain about the solution for Windows 8, but in Windows 7 you can access it via Disk Management and then expand the partition.

I don't understand your view on piracy, but taking something without permission is considered piracy, no matter the outcome. However, I'm pretty sure when she runs Windows Update the license will end eventually... at least on some of them.

I tried to bring it back on track by using tools such as Acronis and applying proportional scaling to adapt to the new drive.

You retained the partition sizes during cloning. As mentioned before, in Disk Management (press "Run" and select "diskmgmt.msc"), you should be able to enlarge the volume.

I believe you can't split the only drive in Windows while it's running. Consider burning PartedMagic to a CD and then use gparted to adjust the partition, avoiding the need to re-upload all files. For issues with Windows Share or networking problems, try sysprep.

Just to clarify, the Windows version will no longer be authentic on your sister's computer.
