I unintentionally damaged my motherboard, but I’m unsure how severe the scratch is. Since my CPU isn’t installed yet, I can’t perform any tests.

Very hard to tell from the photo. I will only cause a problem if it's a multi-layered substrate and you've cut through some tracers. can't see anything at the surface but the photo is really dark. Can you see any metallic at all in the gouge even if it's only a tiny amount? Might be one of those things where you have to just try it. Would suggest some electrical tape over it before mounting.

I made the changes and included a new image showing a tiny bit of brown metal, likely copper.

It seems the tracer isn’t damaged, so you should be fine. Electrical tape works well as a temporary fix, though someone else might have a better method. Another point to think about is whether you did this by accident or if it was included in the product. Got it?

From the unclear photos I assume you haven’t damaged any traces, so you seem okay—but if there’s metal protruding, covering electrical tape might prevent connections. On the other hand, if it’s a fresh motherboard, please return it for replacement, and I hope your warranty covers it.

Keep an eye on things while starting up. If you skip replacing it, anything might go wrong.

I activated it without turning on the CPU to check if the RGB fans were functioning, everything seems fine so far.
