Handling cables in a random way
Handling cables in a random way
During part of our networking midterm, we were installing an old serial network. I had already done it before, so I didn’t have to join in. My role was mainly setting up the serial and console cables. I didn’t make it flawless because I’ll be dismantling it later, but I tried to organize the cables properly. My colleague on the other rack had a messy setup, so I aimed to clearly mark DTE and DCE ends on the serial cables.
Our institution retains the serial connections due to delicate connectors and expensive hwic-2t components. It's also worth noting that all CCNA1-4 and security courses employ the identical serial setup in every lab. At home I utilize t1 cables crafted with about an inch of extra length for better organization.
