I had to change the format of my hard drive because of the update to 8.1, which made my computer difficult to use for networking and work. I rely on this setup from home, using my tablet, art programs, and rendering tools—all function well on 8.0 but stop working entirely after the upgrade. Changing drivers would be necessary if I wanted to stay connected, so most of my work now runs smoothly on 8.1. I’m wondering if anyone knows how to prevent this issue. And honestly, I don’t have a budget for a new tablet or software updates.

Save the 8.1 drivers and allow the update to complete.

You'll need to upgrade to version 8.1 as updates and support will stop. The safest option is to install the newest drivers and manually update your Ethernet card. It should function, but you must perform these steps yourself.

I just attempted that... I only have a Windows 8.0 flash drive unless I really need to swap it out. Unfortunately, I had to replace it, and my Ethernet card didn't update properly with the CD or USB.

Sure, I can provide more details about the specific model of the computer and Ethernet adapter you're using. Regarding your preference, I understand you'd like to avoid updating drivers and instead delete and reinstall them.

You're asking about what model and adapter refer to, possibly on a motherboard. It sounds like you're experiencing issues with internet connectivity after an update, and you're trying to troubleshoot using the Device Manager.

It could fail due to mismatched requirements, incorrect parameters, or insufficient data.

you only have a Win 8.0 flash drive unless you need to swap it out. just download the ISO and burn it onto a USB stick using Wintoboot. search google for the md5 value I provided—updating to 8.1 is essentially a service pack, and anyone with a bit of tech know-how knows you shouldn't install a service pack over an already running OS.

Perhaps the internet stopped working after the update to 8.1. More than half of the tools I use at work can't be updated due to the network problem or they don't function properly with 8.1. My tablet driver is still 8.0, and I'm not sure why I'm having to format my SSD a third time just to get things working again. Sorry if it seems like I'm being too sensitive right now, but I'm really upset.
