My FX-6300 CPU, RX470 4GB GDDR5 graphics card, 8GB Kingston HyperX RAM, ASUS M5A78L-M LX3 motherboard, WD10EZRX 1TB HDD, and Corsair VS650 power supply are experiencing lag in GTA 5 and other games. I need troubleshooting assistance for this issue.

The FX6300 is underpowered compared to current specifications. What frames per second are you observing? You are utilizing only one RAM module, resulting in single-channel operation instead of dual-channel. Please specify the actual CPU clock speed during gameplay. Additionally, provide details on CPU usage across cores and GPU utilization.

My CPU is running at 3.65 GHz during gaming. During a benchmark, maximum usage was 77%. Frame rates ranged from a maximum of 65 FPS to a minimum of 39 FPS. RAM usage reached 75%. GPU usage peaked at 40%. In-game graphics settings utilized 1688/4096. The GPU clock speed reached 1231 MHz, the GPU memory clock was 1650 MHz, and VRAM utilization exceeded 156%. All data were collected during a benchmark within the game. However, it lags in multiplayer.

Monitor all CPU cores; limiting one to 100% will effectively constrain performance. Total CPU utilization is frequently misleading.

That FPS is about average. The FX 6300 is quite old and, while GTAV is older, it is very CPU-dependent. Saying it runs on a PS3 is a bit of a stretch since it ran in the high 20s FPS wise and looked bad. I get about a slightly stuttery 80 FPS with an inferior 1050 and overclocked Ryzen 3 1200, which is considerably more powerful than the FX 6300. Considering it stutters on my Ryzen 3, it would be expected to stutter even worse on an FX 6300. If you want better performance, you will have to upgrade your CPU, motherboard, and RAM at minimum.

Designed for the PS3, although its performance on such an older system wasn't explicitly stated.

The PC version was programmed/designed to run on PCs with PC specifications in mind, preventing a poorly optimized port (GTA IV) from being released and explaining its delayed arrival compared to console releases.
