I built it using a computer and need help installing Windows. It’s on a DVD and I don’t have a DVD player. I have a laptop with a DVD player—can I link the DVD player to my desktop or move the files onto a USB drive?

Consider converting the DVD to ISO format and generating a bootable USB drive. Follow the instructions in the guide to install Windows 8.1.

Gather a USB flash drive of at least 4GB. 1) Place the drive in your laptop 2) Format it using FAT32 (NTFS won’t work) 3) Put a Windows DVD into the laptop 4) Open the DVD 5) Transfer all files and folders from the DVD 6) Move every file and folder onto the USB 7) Connect the USB to the PC 8) Start installation from there and follow normal steps

Pointless and requires hours of work; simply copy/paste directly from DVD to USB.

Never copied more files in the same amount of time before. It only handles the formatting for you.
