I had Windows on my SSD and also a separate drive, I just installed Windows on the M.2 card everything worked fine. Now I’m trying to transfer my files and programs back, but nothing appears when I try to open them. My software isn’t showing up. I’m new to this, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

The files should remain accessible even after not formatting the drives. Check Explorer to confirm they appear there.

You seem confused. Could you clarify what you mean?

I resolved the issue now—hard drive wasn’t properly connected, so it wasn’t showing up. All Windows files remain on my old SSD, but I can proceed with deleting them since it’s on the M.2 drive.

For a brand new setup on the M2, you have the freedom to wipe or format the HDD as needed.

For a fresh setup, you'll need to reinstall most of your programs, though your games might be spared. Many installers (like Steam or Battlenet) let you highlight the files where your games are installed and they’ll refresh the registry automatically without downloading the whole thing. You’ll still have to install the launchers yourself. Here’s a guide for Steam, but you’ll need to use some online search skills for the others. If you’re using Steam, after connecting your library, right-click a game, choose Properties, then Local Files, and select Move Install Folder. Make sure to create a new library on your SSD if it doesn’t exist, then point it there.
