You can create an installer for your laptop without a Mac by using tools like Rufus or Etcher, which support multiple operating systems. These programs allow you to write the installation media for Windows, macOS, and even Linux, letting you run both simultaneously on your new device.

It's tough because macOS verifies your hardware. You might want to try it in a VM first.

Sure, I can help with that. It's a new challenge—consider starting with lightweight tools and gradually building up your experience.

The issue lies in the fact that it's an upgrade, typically requiring MacOS for proper functionality. If anyone in the household owns a Mac—whether at home or work—you might be able to obtain the newest version by downloading it directly.

You're questioning whether there are alternative approaches, noting most were too demanding or risky. I'm open to a more time-consuming method, though I won't compromise on safety. I understand you mean the only proper way, but I'd like to explore other possibilities. Edited October 21, 2018 by Kirotone

No access to Mac available at all. The university might have some in a lab, but I’m unlikely to get the necessary permissions for what I need
