I'm exploring whether boosting my CPU in Cyberpunk 2077 would work. I have an H100i PRO AIO and am curious if the cooling is enough for a 5GHz overclock, aiming for 2 or 4 cores. I'm hoping for a solid performance upgrade. My setup includes a high-end motherboard, gaming RAM, fast DDR4 memory, a powerful GPU, and ample storage. Any advice would be appreciated.
Is testing your CPU more effective than relying on the GPU? You seem to be already taking advantage of multi-core optimization. Your 9900K operates at 4.7 GHz across all cores with MCE enabled. I haven't tried it yet, but if you check any game reviews on YouTube, these issues appear even with a 3080. The game runs quite demanding and isn't especially well optimized. I'm pretty sure tweaking your CPU won't fix this.
driving through a crowd is one of the toughest tasks in the game. your cpu usage will jump to 90-100%, and the gpu stays at full capacity as well. most of the time it's the gpu that limits performance, especially at 4k or 98fps. rtx isn't working well, so I settle for a medium dlss setup. overclocking the cpu only helps slightly below 80fps, and I wouldn't suggest upgrading from a 2080 ti to a 3080. the 9900k won't run at its best, though it's not a bad combo. a 1% drop to 81.5fps is noticeable, but a 5.1 oc with 4.9 ring brings it up to around 88. it helps with the lows, but the decision is yours. short version: the main bottleneck appears above 80-100fps, and there are moments where no cpu stays over 120fps. it's mostly a gpu issue.
