I'm currently using only Asus boards and haven't found the auto o/c options to be impressive. I'm not sure how the gigabytes board would perform in that context, so it might be worth testing. From what I've seen with Intel builds, auto o/c programs tend to favor higher voltages, which could affect single-thread performance. Also, doing a uniform overclock across all cores might lead to similar issues.
