Hey everyone, I'm trying to decide on memory options for an Unraid build with a 3950x and an Asus Crosshair VIII Hero. I'm aiming for 64GB but want to keep gaming performance solid. We're in the UK where prices for non-Corsair parts are higher, so I'm considering G Skill options there. It seems like 3600C17 is a bit more affordable compared to 3600C16 or 3200C14—around £200 for a 32GB build, while the alternatives usually cost over £300. Would that be a significant drop in performance?

The tool works well without exceeding maximum limits or needing only standard configurations.

3600c17 works well...no need to be concerned. I'm using CAS 17 RAM on my home computer...performs at the 99th percentile across every metric.

It seems the premium sets are Samsung B-Die. The variation between the models is likely just a few frames, so it won’t stand out unless you take precise measurements. Unless you enjoy measuring and comparing specs, you probably won’t be too bothered by the more affordable options.

Using an odd number of cycles on a Ryzen isn't recommended, as it usually disables the gear down feature and may lead to performance problems.

Memory latency stems from raw processing rates, yet timing directly influences delays. Optimal performance requires speed combined with precise timing.

Under optimal configurations, achieving stability is definitely achievable. That’s great to hear. I appreciate the input. I thought I’d be fine then. I’ve come across information about this topic before. It looks like a complex situation with Ryzen.
