Hi, I'm experiencing issues with my AMD FX-8300. The base clock is currently 3.3 GHz and I'm aiming for 4.0 or 4.2 GHz. I'm new to CPU overclocking and need assistance. My system includes a Thermaltake CL-P0503 80mm cooler, an Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Micro ATX AM3+ motherboard, and HyperX Fury 8GB RAM. Thanks!

Running a 65W cooler with a 95W TDP CPU seems unexpectedly smooth, especially without pushing the clock speed. Also, the FX chips tend to stay cool, keeping temperatures under 60°C.
Due to the limited cooling capacity and an inadequate motherboard for overclocking, achieving significant stable performance is unlikely. Improving the cooler or motherboard would be more beneficial, but investing further in this setup in 2016 for overclocking purposes isn't justified.
i share the same motherboard. my fx 6300 is running at 4.51 ghz with 1.41 volts. overclocking can only be done using a vrm cooling solution; otherwise, the vrms thermal throttle will occur. i used the standard heatsink fan to manage vrms and avoid throttling. if it does throttle, frame rates will drop noticeably in games.
