Hi everyone. I'm planning to upgrade my current setup and need to decide on a CPU. My existing configuration includes an i3-550 GT with 1GB DDR5 RAM (2x2GB + 2x4GB) and a stock Lenovo IH57M motherboard. I have a PSU, a cooler, and a case fan. Because of availability problems, I'm limited to choosing between an i5-750 or an i5-680. I appreciate any advice you can offer. Thanks in advance!

Purchase a fresh unit right away. This machine isn't worth an upgrade.

Create a fresh setup using a Ryzen 3100, 8GB DDR4 memory, Radeon RX 570 GPU, 450W PSU from ASRock Pro4 for maximum speed.

They’re not good enough. It’s best to plan ahead and invest in a better setup. If you don’t have any hardware, the 750 offers more power with its quad-core processor, whereas the 680 has a dual-core design.

Did you actually check the original message? Clearly, there are individuals in developing regions who lack resources, or even basic PC users in first-world areas facing budget issues. A Xeon X3440 could really boost performance, especially for gaming with 4C/8T. Although your Lenovo machine has limited CPU options, used listings often offer affordable deals. You might also search online for others who have tried this setup. Still, finding a low-end GPU for gaming can be challenging if your area has few PC options.
