Guidance for Enhancing Your Home Network Infrastructure
I’m dealing with a busy home setup that includes many connected devices and a complex network. There are several computers, laptops, phones, tablets, Smart TVs, NAS devices, and a CCTV system all linked to the network. This setup generates a lot of traffic, especially during online gaming sessions. The problem is that my ping varies a lot, making it hard to play smoothly and forcing me to wait when others are online. I’m using a Netgear 24-port switch for cameras and desktops, plus a router supporting both 5GHz and 2.5GHz bands. I’m also relying on an ISP router, which might be contributing to the issue. I need a solution so my gaming experience improves and everyone can stay connected without noticeable disruptions. Your advice would be invaluable, Ryan.
Check if it uses wired or Wi-Fi connection. Determine your internet speed from your ISP. A router-based QoS could improve performance.
I'm connecting via cable to achieve optimal speed. My connection is a UK FTTC with roughly 30Mbps.
This 30Mbit link is a decent solution to your issue. QoS can assist, but consider upgrading if possible.
