Guidance for configuring XMP in a DDR5 system setup
Hello everyone, I just finished putting together my new PC, but I couldn't set it up as I planned because the XMP profile wasn't working. Here are the details: ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-E GAMING WIFI with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, DDR5, Corsair Vengeance - 32 GB (2 x 16 GB), 5600 MHz, CAS latency 36. I managed to boot at 5200 MHz initially, but after a week it stopped working entirely, so I had to disable XMP completely. I'm asking for advice on how to get the full 5600 MHz or better—would turning XMP off be more beneficial? Thanks for your help!
Certainly. Here’s a clearer version:
The computer operates smoothly without the use of XMP.
Begin by confirming you have the most recent BIOS installed. To enable XMP manually, adjust the SOC voltage to 1.2V, set DRAM voltages (VDD/VDDQ/VDDIO) to 1.25V, configure the DRAM frequency to 5600, and define timings as 36-36-36-76. It should start booting and function properly.
Hello, thank you for reaching out. I should have clearly stated that I made sure to obtain the most recent bios from Asus. Here’s what I did:
- Soc Voltage: Manual to 1.2 DRAM VDDQ
- IO set to manual
- 1.25 adjusted
I couldn’t locate the DRAM VDD Frequency set to 5600 Primary timings (36-36-36-76) and didn’t modify the secondary settings. The PC refused to boot, and the MB displayed an error code: 0D.
It seems the system is reacting strongly, possibly indicating a serious issue. At 5600, this shouldn't happen normally. You might try adjusting the FCLK manually to 2000MHz and observe if the board behaves differently, aiming for a 2.8GHz setting similar to Ryzen 5000.
Adjust the timing to 40-40-40-77 and check how it performs. RAM behavior can be unpredictable, possibly due to compatibility issues with your system. If this happens, consider returning or replacing the sticks. You might want to switch to a different brand such as g.skill if you can exchange your current ones. There are many reported problems with Corsair Vengeance RAM on Ryzen setups—search for "Corsair ram Ryzen issues" and you'll see a lot of troubles.
