Hello everyone, I'm working on reaching 5 GHz with a water-cooled 9900k. The advice from past discussions seems to be helping, but I'm running into some issues now. After flashing the latest firmware (v F10), the M.I.T tab is gone and most settings have been reorganized. I can still find things like VT-d, SpeedShift, C-state control, CPU EIST, RTH, LLC, etc., but not Tj MAX or uncore. Also, I'm having trouble setting vCore to anything other than auto, normal, or a fixed voltage. My guess is there should be an option for a vCore voltage offset. It's strange because my first try was just setting the multiplier to 50 and leaving everything else untouched. It booted up and ran Prime95 briefly before errors appeared. When I set a static vCore value, it wouldn't even POST at 5GHz below 1.3v, and it became unstable at 1.35v. Under heavy load, the system shut down completely. I've attached some photos of the current BIOS after clearing the CMOS. Could anyone assist me? I haven't made any changes since the 4790k era, and I'm really stuck.
The betas appear on the Tweaktown beta bios discussion. It resolves the tREFI issue and other problems from F10, bringing back missing options found in pre-F10 final bios with the old GUI. Other internal VR configurations function correctly for the first time since the board release (before that only AC/DC loadline values worked). Additionally, TJMax now provides overtemperature protection. As noted in the help, changing TJMax is possible. Intel specifications are 100°C, though it might be set to 90 or 95°C; adjusting it to 100°C isn't an issue unless you prefer a lower limit.
Why didn't you upgrade to f11c? F10 has a lot of bugs. There's no drawback to using f11c. I'm the one who contacted Gigabyte to file the bug reports that got most of the outstanding bugs fixed in F11c. We're investigating the 500 vs 300 khz issue also (300 khz allows lower load voltage than 500 khz, which is supposed to be the other way around) The DVID offset issue still exists when changing from DVID to fixed/Auto vcore however (this seems to be an issue with the original AMI Bios code with how offset voltage works (Original AMI Bios code allows an offset to be used with an override voltage at the exact same time).
I'll wait until it's out of beta before using it again. Right now, my system runs smoothly, and boosting it to 5 GHz or above is mostly about showing off. Has Gigabyte released any updates regarding the issues you mentioned in f11c? I noticed a discussion on their forum about BSODs and increased core temperatures during stress tests.
The only mention of higher core temperatures I found was about an AIO failing completely. Temperatures remain the same. Be sure to reset CMOS after flashing and booting to BIOS once. The reported issues in F10 have been resolved in f11c. The DVID problem (changing to fixed vcore) and the 300 khz VRM switching feature are still present in these latest BIOS versions.
