Hello everyone. I wanted to attempt overclocking my 970 to boost those extra frames in Witcher 3. I’m using Uningine Heaven at 1600x900 resolution so I can monitor CPU-Z and afterburner simultaneously. The results show a jump from 72.6 at stock speeds to 81.2 with Overclock enabled. Core voltage remains at stock, power limit set to 112% for extra margin, core clock +150, memory clock +425, and fan speed at 75 to maintain temps around 65-66°C. I haven’t tested it in-game yet, but so far it’s stable and free of artifacts. Looking forward to your thoughts and advice. This is my first overclock attempt. Thanks!

This BIOS (* For the HYNIX RAM version) lets me run it at 1506 core under full load, keeps it cool so it doesn't throttle, and has been going solid for nearly 2 years now (21 months so far).
GTX 970 is a great overclocker, doesn't need a ton of voltage to go fast, and the G1 has one of the best coolers for low temps and low fan noise. Nothing to fear as long as you aren't getting too hot or having crashes/artifacts.
It's a solid card, even when overclocked.

hello guys. so I decided to try and overclock my 970 so that i can squeeze those sweet extra fps in witcher 3.

power limit: 112% (for headroom? is it too much?)
Core clock: +150

i have yet to test it in-game but so far this keeps me free of artifacts and stable. opinions and advices are welcomed. 1st time OC'er here.

There is absolutely nothing in the stock bios that will allow you to hurt that GPU. You're voltage limited to 1.256v...so as long as your temps are fine, jack it up and go.
As for power limits. Any time you're overclocking, you want the power limit at max. Period.
And remember....with Maxwell, the cooler you keep that GPU, the more overclocking potential it has. The hotter it runs, the less potential it has. As in, once it reaches certain temp levels, it'll just down clock itself.
If you're not really into overclocking and benchmarking for sport, I really wouldn't suggest flashing to a custom bios. IF you should decide you wish to.....NEVER, EVER flash to a bios that was meant for another GPU. If you do wish to flash to a custom bios, have someone that knows what they're doing alter the settings in a copy of the bios from YOUR card, and then flash back to that. And....ALWAYS keep a copy of your unmolested stock bios.
