Hello! I'm facing an issue while overclocking the GTX 970 G1. I increased the core clock by +150 and the memory clock by +200, keeping the stock voltages unchanged. Running FURMARK and VALLEY BENCHMARK worked fine, but when I tried to play Crysis 3 or BF4 (just the games I tested), I encountered a crash. It looked like a colored screen followed by an error message. What should I do? Thank you!

Try 125 Core. I use 125 core with 500 memory. Anything above 130 core makes it unstable for me.
I also have the G1. Keep in mind that the card is factory overclocked, and except for the FTW edition, it has the highest factory overclock, so you'll get less of an additional boost since it's already quite high.

Reduce the OC or remove it, then attempt again.

Dorin Filimon :
Hello! I have a problem overclocking the GTX 970 G1.I raised the core clock with +150 and the memory clock with +200 and left the stock voltages. I ran FURMARK with no issue and also VALLEY BENCHMARK. When I tried to play Crysis 3 or BF4(only games I tried) I got a crash. It was something like a coloured screen and then an error message. What to do? Thank you!
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!
I overclocked my G1 gtx 970 the same way you did, using MSI afterburner, and when I tried to run Far Cry 4, it crashed after a few minutes of gameplay (I got a colored screen and the game was not responding anymore).
My PC : Gigabyte GTX 970 G1
Windows 8.1 64 bit
This is very weird, because this is a light overclock ! Does this have something to do with the new Nvdia drivers (347.52) ?

I believe it's unrelated to the driver. It fails even with a light oc. @CROcodile20 What PSU do you have?

I don't believe it's related to the driver. It crashes even with a light oc. @CROcodile20 what PSU do you have?
My PSU is: XFX 550W 80+ Gold (it's a decent quality PSU, I don't think that's the issue).
Perhaps we should set the Power Limit to 110 instead of the stock value 100.
I hope someone more experienced can help us find a solution.

I attempted to reduce the overclock. I set the core clock to +147 Mhz and memory clock to +194 Mhz, with a power limit of 110. It remains unstable; I experienced a crash while playing Far Cry 4 (a colored screen followed by unresponsiveness). I’m worried! I understand this card can reach much higher overclocks, but my current setup is unstable too!

It is only ensured to operate with regular time devices; if it fails on those, a return claim is recommended.

You haven't addressed anyone's question. Others have achieved significant overclocks with this card (160 core, 500 MHz RAM) and stability. Consider using a different overclocking tool? Regarding power limits, choose a suitable value.

You haven't addressed anyone's question. I've seen people using the mentioned card with much higher overclocks (+160 core, +500 mhz ram) and stable performance. Should I consider using another overclocking program? And regarding the power limit setting, what value should I set it to? This isn't about all cards reaching the same overclock; if a card has the same issue at standard clocks, it's just defective.
