GTX 1080 Gaming X Overclock
GTX 1080 Gaming X Overclock
Hi everyone,
I noticed something unusual with my GTX 1080 MSI gaming X. During the Heaven benchmark, the GPU clock speed exceeded the boost clock by 150 MHz. When I increased the GPU overclock by 100 MHz, it reached 2100 MHz instead of around 1950 MHz. I used MSI Afterburner for the overclocking, and my temperature stayed near 55°C throughout the test. The benchmark crashed once it hit 150 MHz. Could someone help me understand what’s happening?
Nvidia cards react strongly to temperature changes and can increase significantly if kept at optimal levels. This sudden rise is likely due to you overclocking by 100MHz while the Boost program also adds its own adjustment, causing a large jump. Additionally, once the temperature drops below 60°C, the card will begin lowering its Boost frequency, allowing it to reach its maximum performance because it's running very cool.
