I'm just getting started with overclocking, having only done it once on my GTX 950. Now that I'm rebuilding, I chose MSI's hybrid-cooled GTX 1070 mainly because it’s cheaper than some air-cooled options and looks better. Still, even though I understand the risks of raising voltage, I’m curious if liquid cooling makes it safer or if I should go higher. I know heat is a big concern, so my assumption about being able to increase voltage with liquid cooling seems reasonable. I plan to boost the power limit as far as Afterburner allows and wonder if adjusting the voltage slider is also necessary—what range should I consider safe?

be aware that your 1070 remains a hybrid cooling solution, so even though the GPU uses water cooling, the VRAM still relies on a fan for cooling. This is typically where overheating starts to occur. If you encounter display driver issues, simply restart the system and adjust the settings until stability returns.

remember that your 1070 is a hybrid cooling card. This means the GPU is watercooled while the VRAM gets cooled by a fan, which is often where it starts to overheat. Just test your settings and if you encounter display driver crashes, just reboot and lower the settings until everything stabilizes.

Is it safe to push the voltage slider all the way to the right?
If setting the voltage and maintaining stable performance without crashes while keeping temperatures under control, there should be no issues.
