Open the Nvidia control Panel, go to Custom settings, then select Power settings in the scrolling menu. Choose adaptive over max from the dropdown. The GPU will then adjust itself when needed and run cooler during idle times as clock and core speeds decrease.

When the system runs warm during idle, ensure the heatsink is free from debris and the fans are functioning properly. Additionally, the GPU might benefit from fresh thermal paste application.

What temperatures are reached during idle and under load?
What is the typical ambient temperature?
Are there any noticeable loud fan noises?
