I've had an i3 7100 before when considering a GPU, and I'm curious—can the 1050ti with 4GB RAM fit into the PCI slots like the Zotac 1050ti 4GB?

Yes, it is possible to overclock using various software options. msi afterburner, evga precision x, and possibly zotac firestorm are available, though their effectiveness on other brands may vary. The MSI and EVGA programs are compatible with all 1050ti models.
