You're seeing a discrepancy between your system's reported VRAM usage and what MSI Afterburner displays. This could be due to how the graphics settings are being interpreted or the way the GPU is being monitored. Try checking the GPU settings in your game directly, or ensure your drivers are up to date. Restarting the game might help if the issue persists.

Afterburner's shown number in GTA 5 settings is merely an approximation

On YouTube users often limit their settings to around 1.5GB, but your system is using 1.8-1.9GB. You might have adjusted textures back to normal without changing VRAM settings, or the game could be configured for higher performance. It’s possible the game itself has a setting that defaults to high settings.

GTA V takes up most of your storage space. On my Fury, even with ultra settings using only 3.8GB, the system still shows 3.8GB. It reflects what the game claims it requires, but in reality it probably needs far less.

I reinstated the standard configurations and rebooted the machine, now operating with about 1500MB. Edit: Ignore me after ten minutes—it returned to 1.9GB. Yikes!

It wasn't only about the reported usage—it also involved visual glitches, structures failing to regenerate, and performance dropping to ~60fps with extreme stutter.
