GTA Online experiences regular FPS fluctuations when using GT 710.
Currently, I'm testing a GT 710 for gaming at lower settings to enjoy some casual titles. Generally, my games perform well at 40-80 fps, but lately GTA V has been behaving oddly. It drops unexpectedly every few seconds—about once every 30 seconds—and lasts roughly 4 to 6 seconds. The GPU is running hotter than usual (around 80°C during gameplay), yet other games like AC, Minecraft, and TF2 don’t throttle as much. It’s becoming quite frustrating because I can’t lower the temperatures further. My new GPU doesn’t need paste or a clean fanless heatsink, and my case doesn’t support extra fans. What could be causing this issue?
The card was designed for office PC media playback around eight years ago, which may be the issue.
I might have found the real issue is the CPU. It tends to get warm, and when it hits around 75°C it starts throttling. Sometimes it drops occasionally, other times not so much. I’ll likely try cleaning it out and possibly repasting it if that doesn’t help at all.
It's an old AMD Phenom X4 B95, stock cooler. Not overclocked. It's a pretty old pc so I'm using it temporarily for now. The igpu was absolutely terrible and I didn't have any other GPU's laying around so yeah
Think about lowering it further or something, since it’s already running at the bare minimum in GTA. I haven’t cleaned the PC in a while, and the thermal paste is probably over a year old. During a session of Fall Guys, my CPU stayed around 70°C and my GPU around 80°C without any noticeable drops in FPS. I’m pretty sure the issue is with the CPU.
