You're not alone in this. Many games are designed for controller play, and GTA was definitely one of them. It feels like those days are over!

Wow! The FP gameplay appears much more appealing compared to the third-person style; I wasn’t certain about purchasing GTAV, but now I’m confident I’ll buy it.
