It’s a bit less optimized now, but it works fine.

yes, the game is 8 years old but on the Playstation.Title was released on PC in 2015 so it's 6 years old. GTA 5 on PC has better detail, better texture rendering, and better shadows, and almost everything else. Between PS4 and PC there is a huge difference in graphics.

Maybe so, but on the PC those details look much better, we can speculate on everything from the sale of the title up to business matters, that's a matter of Rockstar Games, in my opinion the PS4 and PC is a big difference in graphics. I'm not saying that the game has to be optimized for every single platform and that's a lot of information for the Open world game. Most games have been announced on the same date, on every single platform.

This demands significant processing power. The challenge lies in what you're willing to tolerate visually. I run at 1440p on a 144Hz display, but the original release had poor anti-aliasing and distracting shadows. To compensate, I reduced textures, tessellation, water effects, and increased shadow detail. Personally, I prefer the cleaner, sharper shadows over the lower resolution ones, as they were more noticeable. The issue really came down to visual quality—glitchy shadows and rough anti-aliasing were more bothersome than a lower frame rate. Since I also enjoy smooth 90-110fps gameplay, I’m okay with some texture simplifications, especially when speed is involved.
Have you experimented with turning off Depth of Field? It can cause issues and distort distance details. I understand what bothers you, but the previous time it happened was in Horizon Zero Dawn when adaptive performance was enabled. I’m not sure GTA V offers that setting. Could you also share a photo of your NVIDIA control panel display quality settings?
