the gpu is where it really shines, while the i7 920’s cpu has its limits. this is just an example of what the gpu can handle, not a full comparison.

Not much at all. The 710 offers enough GPU power for retro or light games, though the Pentium is a big drawback. It's a chip from around 775, so the motherboard should work for more. A $12-15 Q6600 with a tape mod would be a real upgrade.
