Backstory: While operating my PC, it unexpectedly powered off. After restarting, the GPU fan stopped spinning and there was no display visible. I've used my system with built-in graphics before—it functions properly. The GPU in question is a Gigabyte GeForce GT 1030 Low Profile 2G (GDDR5) and my PC model is an HP ELITE 8300 SFF. I also tried the GPU on another machine (display not connected, though I'm unsure if it helped), but in both cases, the fan wasn't working and there was no display. There are no signs of blown or damaged parts, nor any unusual odors coming from the card. Any concerns please share. Thank you all!
The fan not turning indicates a problem in the power circuit. In silicon-based systems like my 1050ti LP card, the fan usually reaches full speed and holds it. Remove the card and check the PCIe edge connector near the display ports for any burned traces. Any burn marks there will point to the issue.
She was almost at the end of her days, yet the fan was surprisingly noisy for its size. It was only two and a half months before I started assembling my first PC.
I examined the PCB closely. The black silk screening appears uneven, shifting from shiny to matte in certain areas. I didn’t spot any burnt traces.
