I recently installed new RAM for my computer but noticed a light on one stick isn’t working. After trying moving the RAM, reinstalling the RGB software, I realized the problem might be with that specific DIMM slot. A picture of the dark area is helpful. The hardware you have includes G.Skill 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL16 Trident Z Neo from ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VIII, paired with an AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz and 70MB cache. Could be a motherboard issue or a faulty slot.
It's unlikely the software is the issue. Your RAM might have a defective RGB diode that failed over time. The safest approach is to utilize your warranty (if available) and request a replacement part.
It seems the placement of one of the RAM sticks in the second DIMM slot causes this problem. Could it be related to the motherboard itself?
It seems the issue isn't with the motherboard itself, since it supplies power to your RGB lights on the RAM. Your motherboard only provides a single power source for the entire RAM module, which can make it tricky to pinpoint the exact problem.
I'll reach out to my electronics shop for replacements. I'll keep you posted on any updates.
