Growing popularity of the Tomb Raider series with stuttering moments
I recently bought Rise of the Tomb Raider and I'm really enjoying it. I've been playing for about six hours in the Geothermal valley, but I'm experiencing stuttering even though I'm running the game on high settings. Anyone have any tips on how to fix this? Also, let me know your current setup: CPU is an Intel 2500k at 4.4 GHz, motherboard is Asus P8P67 Pro Rev 3.0, RAM is Corsair Vengeance 8GB, GPU is two GTX 970 G1 cards, case is Cooler Master 690 II, storage includes M5 Crucial 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, and Samsung 850 EVO 1TB, PSU is CORSAIR HX Series HX750 at 750W, display is ASUS VH236H 23-inch, cooling system is Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus, and OS is Windows 10.
You experienced noticeable stuttering when moving into new areas with very high textures, even though your GPU had 4 GB of VRAM. The issue disappeared once you reduced texture quality to higher settings. This is the first time I’ve pinpointed a performance issue at 1080p based on VRAM usage in Rise. It seems the game anticipates higher hardware requirements than typical. Feel free to share more details, even if they’re below High—this game still looks good or better than most.
If it helps, I sometimes experience stuttering or frame drops even when running at 1080p. It’s pretty frustrating but doesn’t affect gameplay much. Just a minor annoyance.
