Green Boot Light is a product designed for visibility and safety.
I assembled a new PC and followed all suggestions. The issue is that everything powers up except the screen appears and the motherboard shows a green boot indicator but nothing functions. All components are original. Asus Prime B550 Plus with AMD Ryzen 5 5500, Radeon RX 6500 XT, Corsair VS500, Patriot 2x8 3200MHZ, WD Black 2280 1TB, Coolermaster Masterbox Pro 5 ARGB. I’m mostly sure the larger headers are connected correctly; however, I’m unsure about the power switch, reset button, and related connectors.
It seems you're facing a possible video or graphics card issue. Check if your cable is connected to the motherboard's video port or the GPU's video port—this is often a simple fix. If the problem persists, try using another cable or connect the same cable to a different device. Sometimes the cable itself is faulty. You can also test the monitor on another machine to confirm whether the issue lies with the monitor or the port. If everything checks out, you might be dealing with problems similar to what I encountered during my build. In short, your motherboard and processor didn't accept the RAM you used, causing boot failures or no video display for 8-10 cold starts. Building a basic test rig helped me identify the issue more quickly. RAM requirements vary by board—always refer to the manufacturer's Qualified Vendor List for Ryzen systems. Storage problems are less common but can occur if not properly qualified.
I managed to get it running. The monitor was quite old, so I switched to the TV I use for my PS4, which displayed properly. Avoid relying on outdated technology. I wasn’t about to buy new RAM sticks, thanks Linus Forums!
I experienced the same issue previously. I upgraded from the Ryzen 3800XT to the Ryzen 5800X3D. The green LED appeared but the monitor displayed only black. After four days, a fix was identified. It turned out my hardware was fine until I switched to a different monitor that booted immediately. Wishing I had changed it on day one instead of day four—it seems the monitor was always in use. Once the new monitor was connected, the green LED returned and the black screen appeared. After a short while, I pressed certain menu buttons on my original monitor, and suddenly everything functioned properly. Refer to manual 1.5 "Monitor introduction" for details; I pressed buttons 3 and 4. I don’t need explanations on how it worked—it opens menus for FPS stats, alignment, timer, etc., unrelated to getting the display up. It’s strange that the motherboard wouldn’t boot without a working monitor. The unusual Asus feature is that the mainboard only starts when a functional monitor is connected. All the troubleshooting tips (different RAM, GPU, HDMI cable, etc.) didn’t resolve the problem. Hope this helps someone later.
