Gradually turn it off and then restart slowly
Hello. I'm dealing with a slow shutdown and restart issue. The problem isn't during startup, but when it powers off—sometimes the screen turns off unexpectedly, though background processes seem active. Closing everything off a few times before restarting still leaves me with a dead battery, lasting only 2-3 hours. My system specs: i7-4700HQ, NVIDIA 740M, 8GB RAM, 64-bit, 1TB x2 hard drives (5400rpm), split into OS, media, games, and video sections. I'm using an Asus Multimedia X750JB 2014 model.
Consider using an SSD if available; otherwise, your drive is overloaded and performance will suffer. You might also attempt to defragment the data. Typically, this improves speed afterward.
It seems like the system isn't stopping but is about to enter hibernation.
As your computer accumulates more files, performance drops significantly. A mechanical drive running at 5400 RPM isn’t ideal either. Others suggest switching to an SSD for better speed.
I don't press the button until I'm exhausted from waiting, after which I need to keep it pressed for five seconds.
Refers to the shutdown option instead of the actual physical button.
