Gradually slipping into madness.
Gradually slipping into madness.
Experienced many problems with games or overall performance. Recently I upgraded my motherboard from a B450 to a B550. After installing a fresh Windows on my Gen 4 NVMe, it’s running poorly—slow whenever I open apps from Edge to File Explorer. The mouse movement is extremely laggy and I’m unsure what to do next. Any suggestions on the cause? I’ve confirmed connections are correct, drivers are updated, and BIOS is up to date.
I can't test it directly or identify the issue. For a CMOS reset and a fresh Windows setup (avoiding the reset option), consider these steps.
B550-F Gaming by ASUS features a default CPU speed of 3.7Ghz, RAM at 3200MHz, and no slow mode in BIOS settings. Task Manager shows everything normal, with minimal CPU usage and memory usage only increasing up to around 4GB during heavy tasks like using Google or other apps. Performance is poor, causing noticeable lag, stuttering, and mouse issues whenever an app starts or loads.
Seems the improvement wasn't needed at all—what were you hoping to achieve? For your concerns, I'd reset the CMOS, update the BIOS, reinstall chipset drivers, and restart Windows again.
