This is my first gaming PC and I’m looking to upgrade. I understand all the suggestions can be done, but which ones are most important? I’m unsure if it’s worth it for the CPU, GPU, or maybe the monitor. What should I choose? Also, how do I update the motherboards’ BIOS? Thank you.

This is my first gaming PC and I'm looking to upgrade. I understand the options mentioned can be overclocked, but which ones are worth it? I'm unsure about the CPU, GPU, and possibly the monitor. What should I choose? Thanks.
You won't be able to overclock that CPU on a B150 board; you'll need a Z170. A Hyper 212 or CryoH7 would work well enough to push an i5 up to 4.5GHz (most of them hit that limit). You probably don't need thermal paste since every cooler comes pre-installed.
Also, mixing red and green colors in your PC might not look good.
Jaslion here with the update:
My first gaming PC build is ready.
I’ve chosen the links provided and want to know which components are worth upgrading. I’m considering CPU, GPU, and maybe the monitor, but I need clarity on their benefits and recommendations.
Please note that the CPU can’t be overclocked on a B150 board; you’ll need a Z170 or Hyper 212/CRYOGIS H7. Thermal paste isn’t necessary since most coolers come pre-installed. Also, mixing red and green colors might not look good in your setup.
Thanks for the help!

This is my first gaming PC and I’m looking to overclock it. I understand all the suggestions mentioned can be useful, but which ones really matter? I think it’s mainly about the CPU, GPU, and maybe the monitor. What are the advantages of each and which should I choose?
Thank you.
For one, you can’t overclock that CPU on a B150 board—you’ll need a Z170 chipset. A Hyper 212 or CryoX7 would be more than sufficient to push an i5 up to around 4.5GHz (most of them hit that limit). You probably won’t need thermal paste since every cooler comes pre-installed.
Also, you might not want to mix red and green colors in your PC; it just looks bad.
Thanks, I’ve made all the changes to be white and added RGB lighting (set to white).

That looks much better. Also, why did you not get a 7600k? Sure, there’s almost no difference between the two.

This is my first gaming PC and I’m looking to customize it. I understand all the options mentioned in the question can be overclocked, but which ones are worth the effort? I’m curious about the advantages of each component and what would be best for me.
Thank you.
For the CPU, a B150 board requires a Z170 platform. A Hyper 212 or CryoX7 would suffice to push an i5 up to 4.5GHz (most reach that limit). You probably won’t need thermal paste since most coolers come pre-installed.
You might also want to avoid mixing red and green colors in your build, as it doesn’t look good.
Thanks, I’ve adjusted everything to white and added RGB lighting (set to white).

I don’t really like liquid cooling; most pumps fail after a few years. Still, it might be worth trying if you notice your temperatures rising and the PC is clean of dust—then it could signal a failing pump.

I went for liquid cooling just because I keep seeing great videos online.
I don’t really like liquid coolers—they usually fail after a few years. Still, it might be worth trying if you notice your temperatures rising and the PC is clean but hot.
If that happens, a fan cooler could cover the motherboard completely.
I’m concerned about long-term reliability, especially with a fan cooler.
Ah, I’ll plan for replacements every 4-5 years. The main worry is whether a fan cooler would obscure the motherboard completely.

You’ll need a different board for that CPU on a B150 board. A Hyper 212 or CryoX7 would work well to push an i5 up to 4.5GHz (most reach that limit). You probably won’t need thermal paste since most coolers come pre-installed.

I went for liquid cooling just because I keep seeing great videos online.
I don’t really like liquid cooling – most pumps fail after a few years. Still, it might be worth trying if you notice your temps rising and the PC is clean of dust. If it’s just normal ambient temperature, it could signal a failing pump.
So I’ll plan for replacements every 4-5 years? The concern is that a fan cooler might completely hide the motherboard.
It’s entirely up to you – whether you prefer an air or water cooler.
