GPU upgrade advice ?
I’m considering a GPU upgrade. My current configuration includes:
CPU: i7-10700K
GPU: RTX 2070 Super
Motherboard: Z490
PSU: Seasonic Focus 750 W
RAM: 32 GB
Monitor: LG UltraGear 34GN850-B (3440×1440)
I’m evaluating two options:
MSI RTX 5070 Ventus 2X — $550
Gigabyte RTX 5070 Windforce — $620
My main games are Warzone and Battlefield. Will the RTX 5070 be sufficient?
Is the Windforce justified by the higher price for improved cooling/noise?
I own an i7-10700K, Maximus XII hero wifi (z490), a 1000W lianli, and 32 GB of RAM.
My 2070 was having issues, so I upgraded to an Asus TUF 5070Ti OC.
The computer starts up but the graphics card fails to display on HDMI or DP.
Windows doesn’t recognize a new PCI device; it appears the card isn’t present.
When the system is off, the card lights up and powers on with three PCI connectors (red light), but this disappears once booted.
Despite this, there’s no video output. I’ve tested several monitors and even returned the card to the store, which confirmed it was functional.
I suspect the PCIe5.0 card isn’t compatible with the PCIe3.0 slot.
I’ve spent many days trying various fixes—updated BIOS, flashed CMOS, adjusted BIOS settings, forced PCIe 3, changed PCI Express and PCH configurations, and even disabled fast boot—but nothing resolved the issue.
If you encounter persistent problems without a display, try resetting your CMOS and retrying.
I previously used the DP plug with the 5070Ti and it worked now.
PCI-E supports backward compatibility, meaning it should function properly. It seems like a peculiar Asus issue. According to a source, Jayztwocents shared a video showing that a certain card wouldn't fit on some Asus boards but would work elsewhere.
If you're prepared to spend $620 on a GPU, opt for the 9070xt—it outperforms the 5070 and even surpasses the 5070ti in performance. It also performs better with RT than the 5070.

Sorry, the cheapest price I found for an RX 9070XT is $770 USD in my area.
