hello
i plan to upgrade my GPU from the RTX 2080 Ti to either the RTX 5070 Ti or 5080. i’m not sure if my current PSU can support the new models. should i consider replacing it? also, comparing the 5070 Ti and the 5080—both have 16GB—what’s the best choice?
i’m also thinking about getting a 4K monitor later. my current setup includes: lg ultrawide 29 2650x1060 at 75hz.
my system specs are: intel core i7-12700K @5.0ghz, noctua nh-d15 chromax black, gigabyte z790 - aorus elite ax gdd5, 32gb ram crucial 6000mhz, msi nvidia geforce rtx 2080 ti gaming x trio 11gb gddr6.

I'm unsure if your existing PSU can support the new series. What are your main goals for the GPU upgrade—focusing on productivity or gaming?

The PSU needs to handle both GPUs well. For top performance at 4K resolution, choose the 5080. If you mainly play games at 2K and are okay with reducing settings at 4K to save costs, pick the 5070 Ti. But I recommend waiting a bit longer for the 5070 Super and the 5080 Super, as they offer significant VRAM improvements.
