GPU upgrade ?
GPU upgrade ?
Yooo, need some guidance for an upgrade. I've been checking out the 6750XT, but only the XFX model is available (the MERC and QICK models are missing, except the "reference card"? One~ RX-675TMBAF9). My question is about compatibility with the i5 11400f (unlocked voltage). I'm planning to play competitive shooters and a few SP titles like GTA5, RDR2, Cyberpunk, etc., at 1080p @144hz right now. Maybe I'll go up to 1440p later, but it's not my main focus. Also, how much can I push with this CPU? What's the best GPU I could use before hitting a bottleneck? For instance, would a 7700 XT be too much or still okay? The rest of the specs are asrock b560m pro4, 2x16GB @3200Mhz, FSP Vita GM 750W, and Windows 11 Pro. Thanks in advance!
6750 xt or 7700 xt will work just fine.
It’s simpler for your CPU to be faster, allowing it to handle more frames.
It also uses resources at 100 percent, which is how the game manages them.
For instance, GTA 5 prefers a fast CPU and a mid-range GPU.
Cyberpunk needs both.
The choice really depends on the game engine—there’s no one-size-fits-all bottleneck.
Hogwarts Legacy, for example, performs well with an absolute fit; otherwise, expect stutter if it lacks 32GB.
If you aim for better performance, make sure to enable SAM or smart access memory.
BAR is resizable if you’re using Intel.
I understand your concern. Would you consider paying an extra 60 euros for the 7700XT, or is it unnecessary for the 11400? Also, does it feel excessive for the 11400 model?
The prices in Serbia seem inconsistent. But the 6750XT costs 43000 (366 euros) and the 7700XT 51000 (435 euros). I’ve also been looking around more and found the 5060Ti for roughly the same amount as the 7700XT, which is an 8GB model. Now I’m even more confused about what to choose, lmao—this is really giving me a headache.
Rx 7700xt, Rx 7800 xt, Rx 7900 gre (if available), 6000 series may not receive as many updates compared to the 7000 series. All these cards are decent. The 5060 model doesn't seem worth it due to the reduced lanes and VRAM, making it a poor choice for older rigs. The 5000 series from Nvidia has been problematic with many issues.
The 7800XT and 7900GRE do seem quite costly for me (600 euros) and I don't believe they fit well with my current setup. I know the 6000 series could slow things down after updates, so maybe the 7700XT is the better choice. From what I've heard, both Ti and standard 5060 models aren't worth it unless you find a reasonably priced 16GB option, which I don't see available right now. I'll look into it for a bit longer and decide then. Thanks!
No issue 12gb covers 1080p and 1440p currently, provided you're not using ray tracing; reflections in cyberpunk are manageable without much impact. The 7700xt performs better with ray tracing but uses less. Even the 16gb model from Nvidia is limited by the 128-bit bus on x8, making it a weak card and a clear downgrade. Amd has an 9060xt available soon with x16 lanes and 16gb expected around June 5, so consider waiting to compare prices and performance then.
Sure, 12GB is more than sufficient for me. I don’t really focus on graphics or ray tracing much—maybe just texture quality counts. Still, even the 16GB model is 128bit, which shows how competitive these companies are. I might wait to see what they offer for the 9060XT; I bet it won’t be under 500e.
