GPU temperatures rise sharply and computers stop working during game launches?
There was a sticker on one of the screws, suggesting the previous owner didn't take it apart unless they reattached it. I'll check gpuz. I haven't adjusted the paste on a GPU before, but it's always worth trying. It looks like a gigabyte card.
It might be a positive sign, though loose components could have caused the paste to dry out or not pump properly. Verify the VBios in gpuz against your cards model from the manufacturer's site to eliminate any issues. If they align, then you're likely dealing with a repaste. What is the precise GPU model?
My card is the Gigabyte RTX 3060Ti Gaming OC Pro rev 3.0. Perhaps I'm making a mistake, but in gpu-z my BIOS version is 94.04.46.80.AD and checking Techpowerup vBIOS collection it doesn't appear there. Did I verify it from the right site? This is my first time doing this, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
It doesn't have to be done by experts; DIY instructions are available online.
If you're unsure about trying it yourself, it's perfectly fine to let someone else take care of it.
That's the case with TPU's vBIOS archive—it's a community project managed through GPU-Z's validate tool.
When the vbios for your card isn't listed, it just means that no one has submitted that particular version.
I don't know of another site that truly contains such a large collection of files...
Consider running validation on GPU-Z to add your current card to the list.
Additionally, some models support multiple vbios versions that are compatible with it. For instance, this FE model. After clicking 'find compatible BIOS' below the download now button.
