It seems the card is experiencing a power problem, possibly due to a fault. I haven't seen any GPU overheating issues before—usually it shows up as a small spark or slight smoke, but this has resulted in the card failing because a component on the PCB was damaged.
It was a XFX 6700xt model. The smoke originated from all the cards. I don’t have any photos showing it catching fire.
Is this a brand-new card or something older? Send a return request if it’s new. I’d take off the GPU, inspect it closely, and smell it—if it has a burnt smell, proceed carefully. Look at the back screws; if they’re sealed or missing, that’s a red flag. If it’s used, someone might have swapped the thermal paste or caused damage. Do you have a CPU with an internal GPU to test without the separate unit?
