You can pass through your GPU to VirtualBox, but it may not be the fastest option. You might need a second GPU if performance is critical. Alternatively, you can run your guest on your NVIDIA card while using your integrated graphics for the host.

In general, Windows 10 as the host system doesn't support RemoteFX due to security restrictions. I recall hearing about potential ways to restore it, though it raises privacy issues, particularly with a compromised ISO file. On Linux—especially Arch Linux there’s strong native compatibility—it’s straightforward. You’d run the VM using an iGPU for the host and a dedicated GPU for the virtual machine. Sharing the GPU technically is feasible but adds unnecessary complexity when simpler solutions exist.

Use dGPU for the virtual machine and another GPU for the host system.

Ensure your laptop supports IOMMU before proceeding. After that, obtain and install a Linux distro of your preference—Pop!_OS is suitable for laptops, while Manjaro or Arch can simplify package management. Begin configuring KVM (an enhanced VirtualBox alternative) and follow the provided instructions. You’ll find many tutorials online; if you’re unsure, searching for “GPU passthrough” along with your distro will yield helpful results. I’m ready to assist, but going through every detail from memory would be inefficient given the abundance of available guides.

Yes, you can run it on Windows 10 without installing Linux as a host.

They removed RemoteFX support in Windows 10, which is why you can't use it anymore.

Sure, I'll proceed that way. After guest additions it should work fine, and I expect Microsoft to release an Insider build soon, which I plan to install on my host.

I realized my earlier assumption might have been incorrect. Microsoft has recently introduced GPU-P, enabling shared GPU usage between virtual machines on Windows 10 Pro and later. https://forum.level1techs.com/t/2-gamers...erv/172234 This represents a more advanced setup, but it should be manageable. I plan to experiment with it myself, so best of luck!

I'm excited to give it a go! Good luck! I'll be back tomorrow after the late hour to share my results. In the meantime, let me know how it went for you.

I received the GPU installed but passed through, and drivers are set up. Still experiencing crashes when installing Steam or using GPU-intensive apps like Parsec or Rainway. It’s going to take a lot of testing to fix this. I’m not sure yet—maybe the support for 30-series hardware isn’t working properly. The benchmark runs fine but is significantly slower.
