I wonder if they’ll abandon both Mantle and DirectX12. They should care less since Vulkan offers compatibility across any OS and hardware.

SC isn't targeted for OSX or Linux. They should focus on platforms built for Windows (like DX12).

It's confirmed for Linux only. Not for OS X.

AMD mentioned that Mantle serves as a foundation for other companies to build their APIs on. Similar to DX12 and Vulkan, its core structure will also be adopted in those systems.

It's accurate though the previous use of OpenGL in large games was mainly seen in titles like Half-Life. Developers tend to favor what's trending, and Mantle offers advantages that could be applied in future updates. And for those who can't switch to Windows 10, there are still options available.

we also notice that the r9 290 is more affordable than the 970; there are many 290 models priced lower than the lowest 970. If you're not really into the game, it might be better to wait until the release date approaches. maybe new cards will arrive in your price range then. additionally, we don't have a clear idea of how these cards will perform in large multiplayer settings.

I experience lag spikes on the 970, especially when it runs over 3.5 with 3584 VRAM. In this scenario, the 290 should offer more stable performance unless you prefer noticeable delays lasting several seconds.

Loading a ship into the game often causes brief delay spikes. This happens because the GTX970s has 3584MB of RAM, and if your system maxes out that amount, you're likely avoiding the slower sections.
