I understand why I keep relying on xorg. My needs are mainly for development, and since I don<|pad|> I’m fine with it.

Consider using pipewire instead of pulseaudio, as it tends to be more stable. Activate hardware acceleration for better performance. Please share your system details, audio equipment, and peripherals you're using on Linux so we can resolve the driver issue. Based on what you've shared, you might try enabling the non-free repository and installing firmware-misc-nonfree and intel-microcode.

Since this choice isn't currently available, the decision rests with your compositor like kwin or mutter. This aligns more with Wayland support overall. If you prefer, opt for something that works under Wayland. xorg-server is gradually being phased out as distros plan to remove it, and I noticed discussions about alternatives such as i3, Sway, or Hyprland. Interestingly, TearFree has been merged into the modesetting driver but isn't stable yet—Debian likely won’t include it for a while. If that’s the case, consider pipewire, which has largely replaced pulseaudio in other distros. If you switch to Wayland, screen recording becomes the only option available. Also, ensure your microcode is installed as recommended.

I considered going back to the original setup with the Xorg driver and tear-free functionality. I realized the video playback lag in Firefox persisted even with the acceler method set to SNA or UXA, and it continued when using modesetting. After uninstalling both Xorg and Intel Media drivers, the system still worked with modesetting enabled. I attempted to reinstall Intel Media driver and various acceler options, but the lag remained. You mentioned uninstalling Xorg and keeping only the Media driver, but if I remove Xorg, Xserver won't start—my config lists Intel as the driver. Should it prompt a different driver name for the Media driver?

intel-media-driver handles hardware-based codec acceleration. Activated it during environment variable setup. No need for an intel xorg configuration file; supported acceleration modes include glamor or none. https://man.archlinux.org/man/modesetting.4
